Begin by checking what you already have
FieldRoutes offers a native Buy Online experience that can be embedded on a company website. Its setup guide describes service purchases, saved payment details, scheduling, customer creation and an agreement sent for e-signature. The guide says E-Commerce is included with Marketing Pro and enabled by a FieldRoutes specialist. Confirm your own entitlement and configuration with the account team. The customer-experience documentation also describes pest selection, property information, square footage, packages and appointment selection. Online enrollment itself is therefore not a feature unique to PestEnroll. FieldRoutes: E-commerce Customer Experience (page updated Dec 8, 2025)
Evaluate the same real scenarios in both options
Write down ten quotes your office would be comfortable selling online. Use those examples to evaluate each approach. Include a size boundary, an excluded address, a recurring plan and an exception requiring an inspection. Look at the whole journey on a phone, including the information a homeowner sees before committing.
| Question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Pricing | Can the available configuration reproduce your approved examples, discounts and exclusions? |
| Agreement | Where are terms presented, where is signing completed, and what evidence is retained? |
| Branding | Do the layout, messages and handoffs meet your actual requirements? |
| Operations | Who handles unavailable appointments, failed payments and incomplete purchases? |
| Ownership | What happens to the website and signup links if you end the service? |
A preference is different from a requirement. A different button shape rarely justifies an integration project. A documented process that your team cannot reliably express in the available configuration may justify a deeper technical review.
Compare the full cost using your own account
The widget-settings documentation describes lead-fee and sale-fee fields, along with customization controls. It does not establish the amounts applicable to your contract. Ask for your actual charges and distinguish direct widget activity from optional affiliate-network activity. Avoid a comparison based on someone else’s fees. List setup, monthly charges, transaction-related fees, internal staff effort, payment processing and the cost of maintaining a second system. PestEnroll’s Enroll package is $5,900 setup plus $495 per month, or $11,840 for the first 12 live months before tax and third-party charges. We do not add a per-lead or percentage-of-sales fee. That does not mean custom will be cheaper for your business.
When native is a sensible choice
If the widget expresses your plans, fits your website and gives your team a process it can operate, native may be the simplest path. This is particularly worth exploring when your subscription already includes the entitlement. Ask the FieldRoutes team to demonstrate your specific cases and clarify ongoing support.
Low online inquiry volume is another reason to start small. A tailored system cannot manufacture qualified traffic. Before committing to recurring software costs, make sure the website has a service people understand and a reliable way for the office to respond.
When a custom implementation deserves a conversation
Custom becomes more relevant when you have specific, tested requirements for the experience or rules, and you want an implementation team to own the setup and ongoing changes. PestEnroll provides that managed approach. It also offers a website package for businesses that need the surrounding marketing experience rebuilt.
A custom integration adds its own responsibilities: customer matching, signing evidence, gateway compatibility, scheduling conflicts and API limits. Ask the implementer to show how partial failures are handled, how you can replace credentials and what remains yours if you leave. A polished demonstration is useful for discussing the experience; it is not proof of production reliability.
Leave the review with a written decision
Record what native can do, the specific remaining gap, the cost of solving it and who owns the result. If there is no meaningful gap, do not invent one to justify a custom build. If there is, agree a technical proof and acceptance criteria before a full launch commitment.
See our integration scope and account requirements, prepare a pricing rulebook and compare the full rate sheet. Our fit review includes the possibility that native is enough.
